3/30: Update from Mrs. Mitchell

This week we will officially begin our distance learning.  It’s important that we work together in order to provide your child the best distance learning experience possible.  

First, I want to update you on the distribution of Chromebooks.  We will no longer be distributing Chromebooks from John C. Daniels. We will provide the NHPS district office the names of families that did not receive one and they will contact you in order to coordinate pick-up.  We do not have a timeframe as to when you will be contacted. Please ensure that you notify your child’s teacher with the correct phone number.  We also want to remind you that they will provide only one machine per family.  

We ask everyone to stay connected by checking our website daily. We are updating regularly to ensure you have the latest information. On our website, you can locate the classroom codes for your child’s Google Classrooms for grades K-8. In Pre-K, we will be using Class Dojo, Pre-K teachers should be reaching out to you with addditional information. If you are having trouble logging in to your child’s Google account, please email Mrs. McGovern at patricia.mcgovern@nhboe.net

We also encourage you to sign-up on the Remind App, another form of direct communication with the teachers and the school.    

Lastly, please monitor your child’s use of the computer and Google Classroom. We have already had issues with inappropriate language on the Google Classroom streams.  Our teachers will begin reaching out to you directly if your child is not using the device or platforms appropriately and responsibly. 

We are excited to hear from you through Google Classroom. We miss you all and we hope you are staying healthy.  

Esta ha sido una semana larga y extrañamos todos los niños muchísimo.  

Esta semana se empieza oficialmente el aprendizaje a distancia.  Es importante que trabajemos juntos para poder dar le la mejor experiencia a su hijo (a).

Primero, quiero poner los al día con información sobre la tecnología.  La escuela de John C. Daniels le va enviar los nombres de todas las familias que no han recibido Chromebooks al distrito de las escuelas publicas de New Haven.  Ellos se encargarán en comunicarse con usted para coordinar el día para recoger el Chromebook.  Por favor de asegúrese de comunicarse con la maestra (o) de su hijo(a) para actualizar los números de teléfono.  Ya no se entregará chromebooks en la escuela de John C. Daniels.  También deben de recordarse que le proveen un Chromebook por familia.  

Queremos que todos se mantengan comunicados y al día con la información.  Debes de revisar nuestra pagina web donde puedes encontrar los códigos para los salones de google para los grados K-8. Los niños en preescolar van a usar Class Dojo y su maestra se comunicará con usted con la información.  Si estas teniendo dificultad conectándote a la clase de su niño (a), por favor de enviarle un mensaje a Mrs. McGovern. Su correo electrónico se encuentra en nuestra pagina web.  

Le sugiero que también se conecten atravez de la aplicación de Remind.  Esta es otra forma de poder tener comunicación directamente con la maestra. 

Por ultimo, favor de supervisar sus niños en el uso de la computadora y su actividad en el salón de google.  Hemos estado teniendo problemas con niños usando lenguaje inapropiado en el chat del salón.  Si su hijo (a) no esta usando las plataformas de aprendizaje apropiadamente y responsablemente, los maestros se comunicaran con ustedes directamente. 

Esperamos escuchar de todos los niños esta semana de algún modo.  Espero que se estén manteniéndose saludable.
