Get your family excited about the 2018 Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea!

Beginning February 9 through February 25, 2018

Here are some fun activities that you can plan as a family:

Have a Torch Relay, make an Olympic torch and pass from one family member to another.

To create a torch: use this as an example--

You can also check out some of the great ideas for having indoor slalom course, bobsleding, moguels, and so much more! Use this link to get some ideas: https://www.realcoake.com/olympic-games-kids-families/

This link is a great resource for families with younger children: http://www.toddlerapproved.com/2010/02/exercising-with-your-toddler-winter.html

There is so much that our kids can learn from the Olympics, outside watching some of the world's most elite athletes perform.  There is history, science, social studies, math, literacy, and so much more that our kids can take away from thie great event! I hope you find time to watch, laern, and root for your families favorite country/athlete!
I would LOVE to know how you all enjoyed the 2018 Winter Olympics!

Welcome to JCD PE!

Mr. C and Mrs. O'Shea would like to welcome, Mr. Roth to John C. Daniels for the next 8 weeks of our school year.   Mr. Roth will be student teaching in the Elementary grades beginning on January 16, 2018.  He is completing his undergraduate work from SCSU, in Physical Eduaction.  Mr. Roth will be taking over Mrs. O'Shea's classes until March 16.

Mr. Roth is from New Hampshire and attends SCSU during the academic year.  Mr. Roth has spent the first part of this academic year here at JCD as a Physical Education intern.  He is eager to get started fine tuning his craft as a teacher.  One of the reasons that he aspires to be a Physical Education Teacher is, " I have always enjoyed teaching people how to learn athletic skills, and have a passion to help others succeed. I think I will enjoy working with students, to help them find activities they will enjoy, and help them learn the skills to participate in those activities."

Mr. Roth grew up playing Ice Hockey and baseball, he also played football during high school.  You can still find him enjoying a good game of hockey or baseball, recreationally.  Mr. Roth also enjoys scuba diving, something that he is has done since he graduated high school.  He also enjoys watching the Yankees play baseball, in person or at the ball park.  Mr. Roth has also used his experience as a hockey player to help coach a local high school hockey team.

During his 8 weeks with us here at JCD, Mr. Roth hopes "to learn how to relate to all our students, while providing them a fun and educational learning experience."

I, personally, look forward to having Mr. Roth here at our wonderful school! We hope that you find time to come to the gym and say HI, to Mr. Roth and your JCD PE teachers.
