IMPORTANT:

There has been a recent increase in mosquito born West Nile Virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) in several Connecticut regions. New Haven has demonstrated WNV-positive mosquito activity as well as the adjacent towns/cities of West Haven, East Haven, and North Haven. EEE is most closely present in Shelton and Madison at this time and with recent and continued warm weather and humidity, spread of infected mosquitoes is likely and opportunities of exposure increased.

Though the transmission of EEE to humans is rare, there have been two cases reported in CT, and all residents are urged to use preventive measures to reduce risk to exposure; please click HERE for prevention information.

Check the NHPS website at https://www.nhps.net/Page/484 for addtional information.
