Hello

Hello,

We switch classes tomorrow. 156 will start their 5 days in Spanish and 155 will come back to English. Both classes will be finishing the book "How to Steal a Dog"over the next 2 weeks.  Students have been publishing their personal narratives. They have worked very hard to type their final drafts in the Chromebooks and room 155 will be sharing their stories with their classmates tomorrow. We will also be reviewing and working on some editing and revising skills over the next few days.

In math we have started chapter 4- subtraction. We will be finding differences with and without regrouping over the next few days. The addition tests will be sent home tomorrow. Please look it over, sign it, and return it to us as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support. Have a great night!!  :)

Hello,

It was so nice to see many of you last night at Open House. We will be sending the packet of information home with all students tomorrow if you were unable to make it. We switch classes tomorrow- room 156 will return to my room for a week in English and homeroom 155 is going back to Spanish with Sra. Hidalgo. I am looking forward to continuing our novel and moving on with addition in math. The students are doing a great job with addition so far and our chapter 3 test will be on Tuesday. We are also going to continue learning about the rock cycle in science. We had a lot of fun looking at igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks today!

Some reminders:

No school on Monday, October 9th

Addition test on Tuesday, October 10th

Please continue to check and sign calendars each night :)

Hello,

We have had a busy and successful first few weeks in third grade! We have started reading our class novel, “How to Steal a Dog” by Barbara O’Connor and we have been working hard on our personal narratives for writing. Be sure to ask your children how they feel about the book so far and what they are writing about in class! They are doing a great job. We've been studying place value and have finished our first math chapter. The first math test will be on Wednesday. Today students brought home a study guide to complete and help them prepare for the test. Students will be able to take the test in either English or Spanish. The tests will be exactly the same except for the language. We want students to take the in-class math tests in the language they are most comfortable reading.

Reminders:

No school: Tuesday, September 12th

Early dismissal: Monday, September 18th

Open House: Tuesday, September 19th

No school: Thursday, September 21st

Feel free to email me with any questions!

Mrs. Majneber

Dear Families,

Welcome to 3rd grade! I hope you’ve had a relaxing and fun summer vacation. This is my fifth year teaching 3rd grade at John C. Daniels and I'm so excited to begin another year of fun and learning! Here are some materials that your child will need in the classroom and for homework throughout the school year:

-   1 composition notebook

-   a 2-pocket folder with prongs (Please no large binders, they don’t fit well in the desks or cubbies)

-   a pencil box or bag

-   a box of pencils

-   4 dry erase markers

-   a glue stick

-   school and gym uniforms (regular school uniform includes khaki pants or skirts with a plain navy blue polo shirt and gym uniforms are navy shirts with navy sweatpants and sneakers)

-  a box of tissues or antibacterial hand gel for the classroom would be much appreciated but is not required!

Please send your child with these materials on the first day of school if possible. The first day will be Monday, August 28th. Enjoy the last few days of summer! I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Majneber (formerly known as Ms. Casey)
